Can we recommend a place to stay?

The obvious answer is.. of course. If we had our way it would be at OUR HOUSE…but it is usually FULL! WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO? The variety is VAST and FUN! BUT, where to stay depends on YOU and WHOMEVER you are coming with … or not! It’s all ABOUT YOU and what YOU are looking for!

SOME OF THE OPTIONS

• All gay men: TOTALLY “OUT”
• All gay women: TOTALLY “OUT”
  Mixed gay men and gay women: Out, more conservative.
• Gay friendly (mixed gay and straight): Not sure if out or coming with lover.
• Mostly straight? Still NOT sure.
• Clothing optional throughout most of the property: Remember some of those that get NAKED are the ones that shouldn’t, but then some are so it doesn’t mean it is ALL BEAUTIFUL! (Great for the ALL-OVER TAN)
• Has a clothing optional area: PEEKING is ALLOWED without involvement.
• Not clothing optional at all. “Yuck, I am coming for vacation not bodies!”

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION

• Old Town Key West…Stumbling distance to your room... the ONLY location for us
• Near the water (For the VIEW not necessarily the SPORTS)... chain hotels only
• In the commercial district of the island. May be cheaper but not walking distance from nightlife... again, just chains here

PRICE

• Luxury with Amenities: --- $200 and up per night
• Mid-Range --- $175.00 and up per night
• Cheap and Small --- Below $160.00 per night
  I'm basing these ranges on peak season rates - off-season rates will be slightly lower.

ENERGY

We refer to SEX mostly, but also if looking for lots of action of any kind.

• High ---- and that too. Where anything goes and does.
• Medium --- Acceptable to do whatever, as long as it is confined to your room.
• Low – Need to make up with LOVER and/or don’t need competition?

The TYPE of Lodging

• BED and BREAKFAST (Guesthouse) --- with something included in the morning and often happy hour in the evening
• FULL AMENTITIES HOTEL---- Room Service, Bars, Restaurants .. but little personality
• CHAIN HOTEL OR MOTEL --- Standard rooms and amenities, in other works – BLAND and usually not in a great location.
• APARTMENT/ VACATION RENTAL – If you're staying longer and have the urge to COOK and ENTERTAIN.

Guesthouses vs. Chain Hotels

In chatting with and emailing folks that are planning their visits to Key West, I find that most are more familiar with standard chain hotels than the benefits and advantages of staying in one of Key West's wonderful guesthouses. Here's a list of what I consider the advantages:

Location! Most chain hotels are not located near Old Town whereas most guesthouses are and within walking/stumbling distance to all you'll want to do here

Personality - and each guesthouse has one! Depending on the property and the mix of guests, it can be anything from a group that wants to do joint activities to quietly and more privately relaxed.

Nudity - I don't know of any chain hotel that allows nudity or has a clothing optional area. Some guesthouses can be very accommodating in this area.

Price- surprisingly, after a check of what's being offered by some of the on-line reservation services versus calling local guesthouses, the rates are OFTEN lower at many guesthouse. Add in no daily transportation costs, breakfast and more and you have a real deal! So, consider staying in one of our quaint, personal and affordable guesthouses on your next visit to Key West!
